1st Day: Salt Lake City, Jackson, Driggs

JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming, Sep 11 - We used a three-hour layover in Salt Lake City for a quick trip to the Apple store in the downtown area where a very competent technician replaced the battery and did some hardware tests while we waited. We accomplished more in 45 minutes there than we did in two weeks dealing with the thoroughly incompetent Apple dealer on Maui, a company called MacNet. Being the only one on the island, they behave accordingly... arrogantly and full of empty bluster. Never again will I have anything to do with them. I'd rather go to Honolulu and deal with the Apple store there than put up with such incompetence on Maui.

Anyway, it gave us a chance to see Salt Lake City downtown area and stretch our legs after a long flight from Maui.  Unfortunately for Elizabeth, we were there too early in the morning. Her favorite apparel store was not yet open. So a picture in front of it had to do...

After about an hour's flight, we landed at the Jackson Hole airport with smoke from a wildfire all around...

I had to describe to Elizabeth what should have been a beautiful view of the Grand Tetons. You can see her with her Tibetan jacket and the Inca hat riding in a van to the car rental place.

We saw a herd of bison along the highway to Jackson as well as well some "elk" once we got there. :-)

We booked a condo for the week on the Idaho side of the Grand Tetons, near Teton Creek outside of Driggs. That's where the rest of these pictures were taken as we took a ride from the condo up the mountain to a ski resort where we had an early dinner.  Being the off season, or in between season, we were the only guests at the restaurant for a while. Two other couples arrived just as we were leaving.
