Bob's photos from...

Arizona, Idaho, Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico

FROM PHOENIX, ARIZONA

Montana

A cute monument at the Alberta-Montana border, with Waterton National Park mountains looming in the background.

A quaint railroad station (still in use) is one of Whitefish landmarks.  The monument in the forefront is dedicated to the men who built and who (still) run the railroads.

As you can see, the trains are still very much a part of everyday life in Montana.

Unfortunately, so are the casinos.  I've never seen more casinos in small towns than in the state of Montana!  Gambling must be one of the main local past times.  There are quite a few of them on this main street of Whitefish alone.

This photo was taken from the road just south of Kalispell, Montana (which is just south of Whitefish).

An Arizonan in Montana with his NO2NWO license plate.  No one stopped me in this state to ask me what it meant.  But someone did in Wyoming...

Can you imagine how the residents of this small conservative Montana town must have felt during the eight-year reign of Bill Clinton?

Yes, Belgrade, Montana does exist!  This photo was obviously through a dirty windshield at the end of a day which started in Canada, more than 500 miles to the north.

This Belgrade was apparently named after some Serb investors in the 19th century who gave money for a siding on the railroad line to be built.  The siding became the town of Belgrade.
