Visit to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Mar 23, 2006 - A week and a day after my new grandson was born (March 14), I arrived in Cincinnati for a visit to him and his Mom who are staying with my younger daughter Emily and her husband Vic.  

Here's the first picture of Nikolai with his grandfather.

The following morning, I took this shot of Tanja Anne, Nikolai's Mom, standing beside her new car in front of my hotel.

This is Emily and Vic's house in Maineville, Ohio (a suburb of Cincinnati), a lovely tree-lined neighborhood.

The backyard of their house has a nice deck and many trees that provide good shade in the summertime.

And the grandfather again with his grandson, Nick... both unwittingly color-coordinated as a as a "symphony in blue." J

Victor is an avid bike rider, and Emily has joined him in his sport.  

So as Tanja, Emily, Nick and I prepared to drive off to a park for a walk, Vic took his fancy new Triumph motorcycle for a spin or two...

The park has a lovely big pond meandering through the middle of it.  Obviously, the boating was not big at this time of the year with temperatures hovering around 40F.  But Emily tells us it is a very popular recreational destination for Cincinnati residents in the summertime.

These two local residents, however, did not mind the cold.  Mr. and Mrs. Duck seem to be enjoying themselves no matter what the weather.

In the woods, part way through hour hour-long walk that took us all around the pretty pond, up and down the little hills.  Nick must have loved the motion of the stroller and the fresh air as we never heard a peep out of him the whole time.

Back home, after lunch, little Nikolai was very much alert and opened his eyes for me for the first time long enough to snap a few pictures.

After that, Emily and I went into town to do some art shopping for the recreation room in their house.
