FROM MAUI, HAWAII (click on thumbnail images to enlarge) Luau & Sunset Walk WAILEA, Maui, HAWAII,
Dec 1 - This is my n-th visit to Maui (I honestly can't remember how
Some beachfront and pool views from in front of our hotel. The pool in the right photo looks as if it's flowing right into the ocean. In fact, there is about 150 yards of shorefront between them. Kahoolawe is now a deserted island which had been used by the U.S. military for target practice. Imagine...destroying a piece of paradise so we can perfect the weapons to kill other people. ...and from a path that meanders around the shore. At the Grand Wailea Resort, right next door (above)... ... we saw this cute wedding chapel. A prospective and groom were getting their rehearsal instructions during our brief peak inside (right). The resort also has a Polynesian village section as well as a beautiful sand beach. Further down the path, we passed some beautiful large homes with great ocean views. There was no sign of life in any of them. All them looked shuttered down. What a shame; what a waste... We then turned out attention to the setting sun. What follows is a study of sunset images. The two right shots are of the same scene... except that the rightmost photos zoom in on the sun. The same is true of the two left pictures. Doesn't the middle left shot look as if the ocean is on fire? The two right photos... ... as well as the above four shots show the setting sun from the same angle over about a 15 minute period. You may have noticed that there was one lone figure on the beach looking at the same sunset. Wonder who that may be? Meanwhile, a luau was going on in the background on the lawn of our hotel. Check out this short video clip (click on the title or the image to play)...
Maui Sunset & Luau (Dec 1) As you can see, there are some hidden talents that my traveling companion, the Chiquitita "hula girl," has. :-) After our sunset walk, she said said to me, “our walk was like a dream. Everything was so beautiful.” It was indeed. To be continued...
